If you’ve ever wanted an easier way to collect retro video games, check this out

We’ve all heard of services like GameFly, but now there is a website that offers gamers a subscription service that sends out monthly titles subscribers can keep in their personal collection. Think of it as sort of a Loot Crate for gamers. More specifically, a Loot Crate for retro gamers.

“Video Games Monthly is a monthly subscription service that delivers retro video games to gamers who own classic gaming systems from the 80s – 2000s and you keep the games,” says Video Games Monthly’s website.

Video Games Monthly offers gamers four subscription levels. The 3-Up subscription sends gamers three retro titles a month, the 4-Up sends four games, the 5-Up sends five games and the PWR Pak sends an astounding 10 games a month. Prices range from $29.99 a month to $74.99 a month making games in the 3-Up subscription plan $10 each and games in the PWR Pak subscription $7.50 each. The official website says games ship out on the 10th of each month, and games are available for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, Gameboy and Gameboy Color.

For those who worry about getting games they already own, VGM allows subscribers to fill out lists that let them know which games a subscriber already owns and for which system(s) they want their monthly games. They also promise subscribers will never get a duplicate game.

According to VGM’s official website, “each month you will get a variety of retro video games, both well-known and unique. We do our best to send a variety of games in each box to ensure that you have the best chance of having a well-rounded retro gaming experience.”

Judging by photos being posted on Facebook by current members, VGM is delivering on this promise. We at Sac City Gamer have not subscribed to the service, but we recommend giving it a look, especially if you’re into retro gaming.
